Content Licensing Policy
Quest Press Limited / Macau Sino-Foreign Medical Publishing Limited (MSFMP)
To support our mission of maximizing the dissemination and reuse of scholarly work, Quest Press / MSFMP employs a standardized copyright and licensing framework for all content published across our portfolio of journals. This policy is designed to be transparent, aligned with international open science best practices, and supportive of author rights.
1. Standard Open Access License
All research articles, reviews, and other scholarly content published in our journals are made available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
-
Core Principle: This is a true open access model. Upon publication, the final Version of Record (VOR) is permanently and freely accessible to all readers worldwide without subscription or paywall barriers.
-
User Rights: Under the CC BY 4.0 license, any user is permitted to:
-
Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
-
Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial.
-
Primary Condition: The only requirement is that proper attribution is given to the original work, including provision of a link to the license and an indication if changes were made. This attribution must credit the authors, the source journal, and the publisher.
2. Copyright Transfer & Author Rights
Under our standard publishing agreement, authors grant an exclusive license to publish the work to Quest Press Limited / MSFMP. Crucially, this agreement is structured to protect and extend author rights within the open access ecosystem.
-
Authors Retain Significant Rights:
-
The moral right to be identified as the author of the work.
-
The right to share and reuse their article in various contexts, as detailed below.
-
Third-Party Sharing: Authors are expressly permitted to share the published work (the VOR) with colleagues, on academic networking sites (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu), and in teaching or conference materials, provided the CC BY license terms are followed.
3. Archiving Policy (Self-Archiving / Green Open Access)
We strongly support the deposition of scholarly work in repositories to ensure long-term preservation and accessibility. Authors have the right to self-archive their work without an embargo period.
-
Permitted Versions: Authors may deposit the following versions of their manuscript:
-
Submitted Version (Preprint): The original version submitted to the journal before peer review.
-
Accepted Manuscript (AM): The final author-created version that incorporates all peer-review revisions but before the publisher's copyediting, typesetting, and branding.
-
Published Version (Version of Record - VOR): The final, formatted, and citeable PDF/HTML version as it appears on the journal's website.
-
Repository Location: Authors may deposit these versions in:
-
Personal or professional websites/blogs
-
Institutional repositories of their affiliated university or research institute.
-
Subject-specific repositories (e.g., arXiv, SSRN, PubMed Central, if applicable).
-
Requirement: When depositing the Accepted Manuscript or Published Version, a full citation and a link to the final article on the journal's official website must be included.
4. Rights for Reuse
The CC BY 4.0 license governs most reuse scenarios. For specific common academic uses, our policy is as follows:
-
Teaching & Course Packs: Instructors may include the published work in printed or electronic course packs for classroom use without seeking further permission, under the terms of CC BY.
-
Translation & Adaptations: Translating the article or creating adaptations (e.g., figures, tables for a review) is permitted, provided the derivative work is also shared under a CC BY license and proper attribution is given.
-
Republication: Republication of the full article in another venue (e.g., a thesis, dissertation, or edited book) generally requires prior permission from the publisher. Please contact the editorial office for such requests.
5. Contact & Queries
This policy is intended to clarify the rights and responsibilities of all parties. For any questions regarding copyright, licensing, or the permissions process, please do not hesitate to contact our rights team.
